Happy Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day to all OUR Veterans. I posted earlier on Twitter that everyday should be Veterans Day. For each day a Vet is homeless, jobless, waiting for earned benefits, suffers with PTSD, TBI, a physical ailment, is in the hospital trying to deal with the loss of limbs, and for all the Veterans suffering in silence due to depression, we all need to keep them in mind every single day. Not just once a year. We need to give everything we can and then some.

If you know a Veteran reach out and have a conversation. Yes, thank him or her for their service. But more than that, help them reintegrate into civilian society. More than anything listen and pay attention to verbal and nonverbal communications.

If you served in the armed services, I want to thank you with all of my heart for your many, many sacrifices. To the families of all Veterans, thank you so much for your multiple sacrifices. We cannot know what you have been through unless, you choose to share some of your load with us. I know that most of us would carry the load for you if we could. Tell us what we can do if anything.

I am a pastor. I offer free spiritual, and other counseling services to Veterans for free. All you have to do is reach out through Google Plus, Twitter, Facebook, my web site or this Blog. I will answer you to set something up with you whether by phone, email, or if you're in the Greater Northwest of WA state, I can meet with you in person. Please do not suffer alone in silence. Your brothers and sisters in arms are there for you even if you're far away. Your families love you. Maybe, like some of us, they cannot understand what you have been through. But they are right there usually.
Also, reach out to Got your Six, Wounded Warriors, USO and the host of other Veterans organizations out there (I don't mean to leave any out). If you are having trouble doing that reach out to a stranger. WE DO CARE! I know I do. I always have.
I remember each day that there are men and women in harms way right now. I know the few went to fight in place of the many. I know that you saw things, and may have done things, you never thought you'd see or do. I know it is hard to come back home and settle into "normal life".
My Dad was a Vet, so were my Grandfathers as is my brother.
I don't assume to know what you are going through back here at home (if you have a home). But I do think as one human to another, I can reach out and help however I can.

I am a social worker, community health outreach worker, parenting educator, mediator, paralegal, visitation supervisor, court advocate, a child and victims advocate, addiction support and outreach, and more. Please if you need help with anything contact me for fully protected confidential communication.
I can help as an ordained minister, as a social worker, outreach worker, as an advocate, mediator, legal assistance, addiction support, or just as a caring person. I mean this with all my heart. I know all the resources in our community if you need to get hooked up with housing, food or health care etc.

On this Veterans Day American citizens, please give of your money, time, prayers, voices, and actions to honor our beloved Veterans. I am not saying we shouldn't have one day of the year that is devoted to our Veterans. We should. But I believe we need to remember Our Veterans every single day. Just the fact that there are words homeless and Veterans in the same sentence is a national tragedy. This should not stand. Veterans waiting years for benefits is also Our national tragedy. Please give of your time not just today, but each day in a way that is needed.

I have heard from many Veterans that "thank you for your service" is not enough, makes you feel uncomfortable, or that you'd rather not hear it at all. At this point, I do not know if I should say it or not. However, not to say thank you for your service and all that encompasses, would render many of us silent. That will not work either. So until we meet online, on the phone, at the store, or in person, thank you so very much for your service to OUR country. Thank you for doing what I could not do.

God Bless our troops and God Bless all Our Veterans on this and everyday. Godspeed home to the troops in harms way right now.

If you can't think of something to do for Our troops, raise your voices to tell your representatives in Congress to bring OUR troops home now! We do have our voices. This Veterans Day (and each day), at the very least, let's make sure our voices are heard in Washington DC on matters of war and peace in this country of Ours.

God Bless All Veterans and Our Troops. I am praying for the safe return of all Our who are serving around the world.
Sincerely,
Kathy Scott, MLSW, Pastor (non-denominational), C.H.O, G.A.L. & etc.

Beware of Free You Tube Repair Video's!

Be Careful About What is Taught on You Tube!

Watching a "Expert" on Repairing Chatty Cathy Dolls, Break Chatty's Neck Flange

I saw a repair "training" video on YouTube. I have seen a lot of crazy and incorrect things on YouTube but this is personal for me,
People follow these directions and break their dolls and then send them to her to fix them!
She dipped Chattys entire body in just boiled water to show how to remove the limbs.
She heated up a Chatty Baby up with a blow dryer without protection. What's worse is when she tore the head off she was telling viewers to be careful because you can break the neck flange. So what did she do as she tried yanking the head off before it was ready? Broke the neck flange and brushed it aside in such a way to where viewers weren't supposed to notice the cracking sound and the piece that fell off the top of Chatty Baby's head!
Please be weary people of what people are teaching you for free especially on YouTube! See they get money for the views. People post things on YT to make money from the ads.
Do not try to do the process that lady shows on You Tube or you'll break your Chattys neck, melt her torso and ruin her voice box and probably grow mold inside the doll.
Bad form people really bad form.
I just want everyone to either have a mentor or learn through a reputable person who has expertise in museum-like doll restoration.
I realize everyone wants to try to get their Chatty talking again and don't want to pay a fortune. But let me warn you, learning on You Tube from the top Chatty Cathy repair video will cause you more trouble than you bargained for.
If you need help getting a Chatty repaired ask me for the names of one or two really good Chatty and Mattel talking toy repair technicians.
Have a Chatty Day!

More on "Franken Chattys", "Doll Artists" and Chattys for Posterity

More on Franken Chattys Out There

A Nasty Letter from a "Doll Artist"

                                    Chattys Are for Posterity &

Why We Want Our Chattys as Original as Possible

I have been helping a disabled family member. This has taken up all my days and nights for this past year. Luckily, I still somehow find the time to sell my lovely Chatty Cathy dolls.
My family member has survived at least two severe traumatic brain injuries (Mark has TBI). It is a terrible condition, and he changed forever after his last TBI event. He is now homeless, and has several severe medical conditions, left untreated by his doctors and clinicians. They do not understand TBI at all. They see Mark as being "non-compliant" with his treatment etc. This is not the case. Most people including doctors, simply do not understand this debilitating injury.
I  strongly recommend to anyone who has kids, grandkids, loves kids, or knows anyone who's had a concussion, or other head injury, to get information at www.BIA.gov. You can read how common brain injuries are, and that it is typical for TBI to go undiagnosed for years. Children who play sports, play on play equipment, or just play, can suffer a brain injury. The children who have hit their heads, or suffered a concussion, are often put in one of two camps. They are either, "incorrigible" or have "ADHD" (hyperactive attention deficit disorder). That was the case with my family member, Mark who suffers with TBI. He had a few head injuries as a boy. This put him in both of the above camps. Not much, if anything, was known about traumatic brain injuries, back in the sixties to eighties. It is only recently, that we have heard about TBI. This is because, thousands of our Soldiers, came back from our two longest wars, with traumatic brain injuries. So now we hear a bit more about it. If you have an active child in your life, I suggest checking out the Brain Injury Alliance online to educate yourself, and protect the children in your life from this disabling condition. Not all are so terrible and not all are like his. Mark died, came back three times, had no human face, his brain shifted back and forth in his skull, and his face was reconstructed from a very small photo. But, he did heal a lot. He eventually had a middle class life. But, the second brain injury, took all that away. He is getting better in some things. After his last TBI event, he did not know who he was, or who others were. Overtime, he got a little better. Somehow, his brain recovered just enough, to where he has an almost, encyclopedic knowledge of 1970's rock music, and Mel Brooks movies. The journey of recovery, for the few of us who love and care for him, as well as for Mark, still continues and he is living in a homeless shelter.
Now as to the letter I received, through an eBay messaging meant for buyers to sellers and visa versa.
I was minding my own business finally, taking some me time and checking out what was selling on eBay. First, I must say, it is not good news for the Chatty world. Anyway, I received a notification of a message from someone named "Carol". First she sounded as if she wanted to be friendly. But then, she sent a hateful, spiteful letter, disguised as an "offer of an olive branch" Mind you, this is someone I don't believe I know. I responded by asking, how could there be a need for an "olive branch", when I did not know who she was, or what she was talking about?  I added that I was in the middle of a family crisis, was under too much stress, and did not have time to talk about an unknown conflict. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of posing my comment, as a question. Oh boy, was that a mistake.
Apparently, she went to my web site and read about me wanting to keep Chattys "all original". She despised the fact, that I referred to myself as, being  "a purist" at heart, when it comes to Chattys I collect and sell to my clients.  She let me have it with both barrels so to speak.
This woman I don't know, went on a long two page rant, about her and others out there, who "love" our Chatty Cathy's and want to "save them". She spat out her position in anger and what sounded like hate. It was upsetting as this was the first time in a long time, that I took some time out for myself. I only had a little time to decompress, before back to helping Mark through daily crisis's.  I ended up upset, and even shaking a little. It was very mean-spirited. I explained, I did not have time for her, these were her issues, and I did not want to discuss what is, or is not considered  "art". That is a very broad, and subjective topic. I thought the addedge of  "one mans junk is another mans treasure" applied to her case. I am not telling anyone what is art. It is a very personal matter. However, to spray paint a Chatty Cathy shiny black, put in shiny strange, brown pinwheel eyes, paint on neon coral lip color (really bright), and add a spiral long wig, is a whole different discussion.  As of today, every "pretty looking" Chatty on eBay, are dolls that are repainted, cute but non-Chatty Shirley Temple curly hair styles, and eyes not meant for a Chatty, or if they were, they have the wrong eyelashes in very poorly. The sellers, either only disclose that they did a "boil perm, bath and lip sealant". Mostly though, they say nothing at all about the alterations. They make changes to Chattys, and don't tell the consumers (and fellow doll lovers). Their Chattys are wearing more rouge, than a Burlesque performer. The sellers are say it's "all original". This of course drives me nuts! Therefore,I need to digress.
Ruth and Elliot Handler, Jack Ryan, Mattel, and others, made Chatty Cathy dolls in all her various forms. My thinking is, if you want to be a "doll artist" create your own doll and be one. Marie Osmond, Ashton Drake, Madame Alexander, Bob Mackie and countless others have done this. Why take a decent Chatty Cathy, and turn her into something she isn't? Then, turn around and charge a fortune for a doll that you ruined! All the while, most, don't  tell the public they have swapped parts, repainted faces, and put in new eyes in etc.  The Chatty sellers who do this say well, "Mattel reused parts."  Yes, that is true, but that was Mattel's doll to do as they saw fit. Chatty Cathy is a trade name and belongs to Mattel.
If these folks are indeed "doll artists", why not tell everyone that they are rendering a Mattel doll, into something else entirely? Why not describe their "doll art in their auctions"?
My biggest beef, isn't about "doll art"at all. I don't care for it because, it is deceptive selling practices, it forever alters the doll and thus ruins her. I do not think one of these people who do this, think about a decade or two from now. They do not think about what happens when they are dead and gone. Years later, the doll may swap hands many times, and someone tending to an estate, or the end user, will think they have a true rarity. Then they in turn, sell an altered, sometimes awful doll for a fortune (or attempt to). It is already confusing enough and it has only been fifty years since Chattys inception. Just think, how much more confusing it is going to be decades from now. This lady told me she puts "her mark" on Chattys foot. How many people in one, twenty, fifty or a hundred years from now, are going to know, or even think to, look for a "artists' unknown mark, on a dolls foot?

I want to save Chatty Cathy dolls, warts and all, for future generations. After all, isn't this one reason why we collect these dolls? I say indeed it is. This is why I started collecting Chattys. I remembered how much I loved mine, and wanted her again after the tragedy of 9/11/01.  It turns out that I was not the only one looking for my childhood doll. Hundreds of thousands of Americans, were doing the same thing. It might, just might, make us feel a bit more safe again. After all, it was such a frightening time. Remember, the colored "terror alerts"? Remember how frightening they were?
I did not realize at the time, this was why I sought out my Chatty, after so many years. I was not thinking of this at that moment in time. I read about this trend several years later. People were seeking out their long lost toys all across America, for comfort, or something familiar in a world, that had suddenly become anything but familiar.

All in all, I do not want to discuss what is or is not "doll art". I want to talk about Chatty Cathy dolls, and how to preserve them for as long we possibly can. If we find one that is bad condition, she can be helpful as a "donor" doll.  This way, Chatty won't end up in landfills (one of the "artists arguments"). We can always use her for parts to get another doll talking, have a new arm, leg or even head.  Say a doll has a broken eye, as long as you replace it with the exact same type of eye, that is what Mattel did.
I do not swap parts unless a record is scratched beyond repair for my guy fix it.  But, I do have a very full, very deep drawer, full of Chatty limbs. I also have a few heads around too (it really creeps out new visitors, ha ha).  So why save them if I do not swap parts?  Maybe some day, I will find a perfect Chatty that just needs one limb or torso.  Also, Chatty collectors, write and ask for limbs, torsos and the like, for their beloved childhood dolls. I suppose that is the reason.  This is why I keep the parts. I keep them for all of you who, want to fix up your favorite childhood doll, to look just how you remember her.

I have my Chatty collection completed (for the most part). I have Chattys that are never to be sold. My hope is, they will go to my grandchildren, nieces, nephews, second and third cousins, and down the line. My Chattys and Mattel talking toys are not just for me. They are for posterity for my family and part of my past. Chattys capture a moment in time in our lives. This is why I want to see, and keep them as original as possible. I shouldn't have to even explain this. Most of you out there know this.
Chatty Cathy dolls were a gift from our parents, our grandparents, and Mattel's gift to all of us. She was our holiday and birthday wishes, to be proud of, to pass to our children, and in the end, for posterity...

Oh, and to all the "doll artists" changing Mattel's Chatty Cathy dolls, please think about hundred years, and two hundred years from now. How many people, that far in the future, will know an original Chatty from a non-original Chatty? How will they know?  The only way they will is by looking at old books. Possibly, what you put up on the web, might still be around that far into the future. How will someone know what a Mattel Chatty Cathy is supposed to really look like? Maybe a museum curator needs to know. Maybe an anthropologist wants to know in two thousand years from now.
Yes, I am a purist at heart when it comes to my dolls that I collect and sell.  Chatty Cathy's are all about the past and for posterity...

Thank you and happy Chattying!

Happy & Safe Holidays To All our Troops (Going off topic) For Our Service Members, Veterans & Their Families

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR TROOPS, VETERANS & YOUR FAMILIES

I  WISH FOR SO MUCH FOR YOU THAT WILL ALL HAVE A SAFE, AND AT HOME, & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Christmas Wreath for a Happy Holiday Wishes

"THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES & SACRIFICE" FOR OUR COUNTRY              PEACE ON EARTH GOOD WILL TOWARDS ALL PEOPLE

I  Wish Our Troops a Safe, and More than a Few Minutes,
of a Very Merry Christmas as well as a Happy Holiday Season & Safe Happy New Year.
I further Wish & Pray that All will Return Home Safely in 2014 & No Longer.
I Wish Happiness & Best Wishes to All Our Veterans & Their Families.
I wish for the Same to Everyone All Around the Globe Everywhere Who Celebrates a or the Holiday during This Time of Year.

My shout out for Our Troops

I wish for a Wonderful, Magical, Safe, Prosperous & Happy New Year for 2014 &beyond to All Our Troops, Our Veterans, and to all Our Service Family Members.  I know me saying thank you so much, for your sacrifices, services to and for our country, although I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart, I know that is not enough. It feels so lacking saying "thank you for your service". It's not enough, to merely, say the words.  In fact, I've heard that Veterans say, they get tired of hearing it (albeit it's better than no words at all).  It is my sincere hope, my one Christmas wish and my New Years prayer, that everyone will pause during their hectic holiday schedules and say collective prayers for our troops, send an unified shout out to wish our Troops well,  and send money to the good organizations who serve our Troops, Veterans and their Families. I think of all our men and women who are in harms way right now, as I'm writing this. I think about them being so far away from home, and away from any semblance of normalcy. This is the case, often for years and years and years.
Collectively, we all can, and need to, remember all of those who are serving Our Country in our stead. Thinking about all Service Members who are in harms way right now, this very minute, and all future minutes until they come home safely.   Our Troops, give so much of themselves. They will continue to do so until they safely make it home and afterwards as well. But even then, our Veterans have so much to overcome, when they do make it home.  I'm thinking of the many wounded Warriors and hospitalized Veterans, with visible and not so visible wounds. I'm thinking how much those who love them, and who care for them have sacrificed for all of us and their loved one. They All have sacrificed SO, much that it's difficult to grasp what they have, and are going through right now… I'm thinking very sadly, of all those who have died in this all too long war. There are no words.  No thank you’s that help. There are only deeds we can do to now to serve them.
I wanted to send this, my small shout out, to our Troops, Veterans and their families!  "Thank You," isn't enough I know. I give all I can every month or more. I wish so much that all of you could can come home sooner rather than later. I’ll do my part to ask Our President again, to make sure you can ALL come home this coming year. I'm going to continue to bug him in whatever way I can some more. I really wish for, and hope that, you ALL will stay safe. I pray that every Service member comes home very soon, and does so safely. But, until that day, you all have my prayers, my best wishes, my financial and emotional support, and my Thank You So much for your Services for our Country and for your Sacrifice”.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to those in harms way, those in hospitals, those adjusting to life back home and those suffering in silence. Please, by all means, feel free to contact me if any of you see this. I hope that you do. Then, we can talk about, whatever you'd like to talk about.  Maybe you want to talk about something more mundane. Maybe you may want to talk about something really terrible. I'm am also a Pastor, was a social worker, community outreach worker, work with addicts, and am a fellow human being.
God Bless you all.
As for the rest of us, we need to press the President and Congress to move heaven and earth to get the VA to get it together. Process the enormous backlog of applications immediately. What's happening there is a National travesty and it brings shame to our Nation. So is the fact, that we have so many homeless Veterans. They should always have a home and the services that they need. A great program has worked in Arizona. They have gotten homes, they say for every homeless Veteran. They did this by doing is known as "wrap around services”. This is finding, and then getting, Veterans all the services they need to prevent homelessness. These things include medical attention, mental health services, counseling, jobs training, and even substance abuse treatment. This means they get to the root causes of homelessness. Now that they've housed and helped the Veterans, they are going to use this same model for all their homeless population. We should demand these services in our towns, cities, States and all over this country.
For Christmas, instead of all presents, write a letter, call a Congressman/woman (the women tend to really work together to get things done), give of your time, your money, talk to a Veteran, or someone just back home from Afghanistan.  Just ask a recent or older Veteran a regular question as in strike up a conversation like you would with anyone else.  I have never heard of anyone in America who doesn't "support the troops". We are the United States, and as such, should never, not ever, leave those out in the cold, who have sacrificed so very much.
Start a program, start something just do anything. They went voluntarily to the most of our wars but notably, the last one, and the current war in Afghanistan.
For many reasons we all were able to stay home and not give up anything. Most of us are home with our families and friends this holiday season. They are not. I ask that everyone at least think about this and then at the very least call your State Representative or write a letter to the President demanding that the Veterans Administration's backlog of claims gets resolved and now. This is my Christmas and New Years hopes and prayers. Yes, my "Thank You for Your Service".
Here are a few Non-profit Veterans groups that I know are of great help to Veterans with many Vets helping Vets and many more that are great I didn't mentioned here. I personally support, Wounded Warrior Project, Got Your Six, Help Hospitalized Vets , The USO (they’re good for getting phone cards and care packages, and this AM just after midnight, I saw them delivering Christmas items to the Troops in Afghanistan, and they also get other items to Troops in War zones) and VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars and yes Afghanistan & Iraq are just two such wars), to name a couple.
There are many, many more out there. If you want more information on many great projects that know what Veterans need now. You may check out many non-profits at, Got Your Six, which is run, by Veterans, for Veterans and they spread the word. They encourage people to start their own non-profit org. You may do some web research as well to find more information on great organizations that year around, are in need financial and other assistance.  You may already give to a Veterans Organization. That’s wonderful. I guess what I’m getting at is we need to do much more especially now that more Service Members have come home and are coming home, this year. What should we do about the VA backlog? All I can think of is call and write the President, Congress, local Representatives and so forth. If we all do this the huge problem just might get fixed! If they can fix the Health Care Web Site in such a short time after knowing of it's problems, then they should be able to fix the computerization issue at the VA. Maybe we need Steve Jobs for that too?
Merry Christmas Everyone.
Love, Peace & Prayers for Safe Return Home in the New Year

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year To All and to Our Troops, Veterans, Their Families & To Everyone Else!

This is the beautiful 1998 Mattel Holiday Chatty Cathy still Mint in Box. She's my favorite of all the Mattel reproductions or any other reproduction for that matter. She has such beautiful brown eyes and lovely soft and long hair. These are rarer than the rest of the Mattel reproductions and they are hard to find complete with everything still in the box. They sell for up to $399.99. I'm selling her for $289.99 in case anyone wants to add one to their collection (She's even less for Active Duty and All Honorably Discharged Service Members as well as members of The DOD). Please E-mail or call me for any information. Or, you can go and visit my site where she is up for sale on the Chattys for Sale New page (the lavender link).

I wish you all a Very Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!  I wish this specially for our Troops & Veterans. I'm thinking of you all right now & will continue to until you come home safely.

If you've visited my web store thank you. I hope you all have a prosperous, joy-filled, magical, wonderful and Happy New Year!
Please feel free to join in to discuss anything about Chattys, Mattel favorite toys or any other comments about dolls (or anything else appropriate).
The hosting company for my web site, deleted or hid my main Chattys for Sale page and many other key pages! Talk about the super wrong time of year for this to happen. They fixed it once and then I logged back in to add some more information and rebuild the pages they deleted by accident forever and low and behold my Chattys for Sale page was gone again! It took years to build that page. Each doll is a full photo shoot project. It's like dealing with models that talk but only if I pull their strings! Then there are the 80 plus other vintage talking Mattel toys that also have been through a photo shoot. That includes ironing clothes, doing hair, props, ribbons, finding the outfits in the first place, having the perfect lighting conditions etc etc. Then off to editing which takes quite a bit of time as well. It takes hours just to put one single doll up on my site! ALL gone. I was talking to a lower level tech guy at Homestead (the hosting company), and all the sudden my very full, very long page of products disappeared and the phone went dead! Coincidence? I think not. I think he had an oh cr-- moment and hung up  on me because he didn't know what else to do. Their high level tech guys got the page back up some other way which they failed to tell me how and that lasted until I logged in to add some Christmas or Holiday information and graphics. Update a few prices and lower some etc. My products are gone. The page isn't in the root directory. They also make it on purpose where you can't download all your files to your computer to keep control of them. It's called FTP. Stands for File Transfer Protocol. They do this to keep it that way, so they retain control of all your files. Thus, making it almost impossible to move your web site to a new hosting firm. They make it so you have to rebuild from scratch and whatever photos you happen to still have of your items for sale. In sum, I'm fed up so I'm moving my very same, yet better, web store and same name, to a new hosting firm who does has FTP and 24/7 phone support and is a Green Company using wind energy. Homestead is not available on weekends or even after 5:00 PM on weekdays. That's ridiculous. Most people have other jobs besides running a web site. We're not all Amazon(TM). Okay I'm done talking about all that. Except to say I didn't get Christmas cards out due to working on rebuilding my site so it had at least a few things for the over 200 people per week who visit the site. That's just the number they can track. Many people do web searching and shopping "incognito". This is a good thing which makes it so search engines and company's can't track you while you're surfing and shopping on the web. Talk about the NSA? Big and smaller businesses have been doing this for years and years. Since the invention of the internet. I found out about it by chance when my former web hosting company and my current one kept stats on who visited my site, their email digital address, company, how long they stayed on each  page etc. etc. That's truly Big Brother watching. It didn't start with former President Bush and Vice Pres. Cheney. It started long before by big business then smaller ones.  I didn't like it when I found out they were doing this and I ignore it now. I don't look to see who's been at my site. It's none of my business unless they contact me. What I for for Christmas from my web hosting firm well I got Scrooged!  Okay now I'm really off this topic! LOL!
But I'm not going to let my web hosting company ruin my holiday or yours for that matter!
I've been blessed to be a part of some wonderful clients lives and secret gift giving plans and schemes.  Then I get to hear all about  how they cried when they opened their gift and found a Chatty Cathy. They find her just like they remembered her and their are always tears of joy, sparking eyes,  and squeels of delight after opening their present. That is what keeps me going. That is exactly why I keep doing this for no money. I love to help people to be able to give their loved ones the childhood  doll they treasured so much and lost. Chatty dolls bring back times of happiness and sometimes only comfort in their childhood memories. A doll that was lost somewhere often tragically, a long time ago. This is a priceless gift. There is nothing I can think of that feels better, or brings more joy, than getting your very most favorite childhood doll. The one and only that you wanted so badly and loved so much or wanted so badly and didn't get. It's such an honor for me that I get to be part of  people;s lives when getting their beloved dolls and toys back. That goes for the person giving the gift of a Chatty too. It's easy to go buy gadget or jewelry at a store. It takes a special person who takes the time to buy someone they love their childhood dream doll or toy. So many emotions involved on all sides. back memories for them as well. Maybe for the sibling who broke it or the mother who threw it away or doesn't "remember what ever happened to that doll"... Oh the joy! Just writing this makes me smile.
I hope everyone out there gives something, or gets something wonderful during their holiday celebrations.  I hope everyone has the chance to be with their loved ones.

A NEW SEASON OF "FRANKEN CHATTY's"

HALLOWEEN HAS COME EARLY

By K. Scott

First I need to say, I've failed for the last 2 years to tend to this Blog. And for that I am truly sorry. That is if anyone out there even  has cared!  The reason I'm unsure is, because I've failed to promote this Blog properly.  I was very new to Google's Blog system and still am a bit. Thus, I don't really have it out on the  web the way it should be.

The smell in the air is changing.  Summer is over and the Fall season is upon us once again. Halloween will be here again soon. Costumes, decorations, Trick or Treating, candy and kids pumped up on sugar.  I kind wish I could go Trick or Treating! But I have had the been going, in a sense, to a house of horrors.
I've been working long hours trying fix problems with my web hosting company (note if you want to even sell a few things, avoid Homestead.com). I haven't been able to change anything not even a line of text my site about 2 years. I have been  been cruising the internet looking at Chatty Cathy dolls just to see what's out there. I've been really examining the ones I find on a certain auction site. We all know it. It's the one that starts with the letter e___.com.  You know the one I mean.
I don't know exactly why, I still find myself astonished to find, some of the worst Chatty's I've ever seen "'out there".  They seem especially bad this year or so it seems.  There are so many crooked, missing or no teeth, on almost all Chatty's. This isn't true for all Chatty's but many. I found this on almost all soft-faced early model Chatty dolls.  Then there are touch ups galore! This is now referred to as either, "enhanced or "restored" and even "OOAK's".  I'll say they are one of a kinds!  Oh my gosh!  It's like a house of horrors out there. It's a haunted house open year round.  But even though, I know these dolls are always out there or on there.  I still find myself very surprised.
I wonder why I am?  It's think it's probably because, I'm always trying to be the ever eternal optimist.  But alas, "Franken Chatty's" are out in full force for Halloween or so it seems. These Chatty's can be found far easier than a true original Chatty dolls.  It's true!  Go cruise and look for yourself.
I suppose this is just a sad fact of doll collecting now.
The Chatty world is possibly a bit larger now probably due to lack of jobs.  And being the people we are, full of hope and the land of opportunity. All the while we're trying to eat and care for our families. So innovation or entrepreneur's abound all over the place! While I admire this spirit, and am one such person myself, I don't think this is the way to go. Sadly, they do not understand or worse, don't care, about the end buyer of that "enhanced" or "OOAK" doll.  By this of course, I'm referring to the person or person's that will end up with the doll, and doesn't know that it's not an original Chatty. While I don't want to believe, people are purposefully trying to deceive people; the lack of disclosures in many of the descriptions, tend to make me feel otherwise.  I don't like feeling this way at all!

I have admitted before, I'm a purist when it comes to Chatty Cathy and other doll remaining all original.  If they just have to be fixed, then fix them the best you can. Please just fix them the way they are supposed to be.  Not to become a newly described "doll artist'"s rendition, of what they want a Chatty to look like with their artistic vision's.  If you want to make dolls, learn to make them!  Don't take a Mattel made Chatty Cathy Doll, and turn her into a "FrankenChatty"!!
I mean, even Marie Osmond makes dolls from her own designs (or it appears).
I have no reason to distrust Marie Osmond for heavens sake! Or do I?  :-)
Chatty's "out there", are being re-rooted with strange and odd hair colors, dyed to be Black, when they never were and, of course always the eye changes.
What is it about Chatty's eyes that people do not like?  What did she ever do to them?  Did she look at them wrong?
Well all Chatty lovers let's unite and fight to keep our Chatty's original.  By all means do get her voice repaired by a masterful repairman. Do fix her hair back to original or yes, clean her up.  Even give her a new outfit if she doesn't have one.  But by all means let's get it out there that this is all that should be done to an original doll.
Well, until that day the season of "FrankenChatty" will come and go, and come again...
Yes, Halloween has come again.
Please be vigilant Chatty lovers!
Once again, I'm truly sorry I've neglected this Blog!
